The progressive group CREDO Action is calling on U.S. senators with an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association to denounce the NRA’s controversial new ad, the group announced Thursday.

Late Tuesday, the NRA released a TV ad in which promoted the group’s plan to put guns in schools by asking why President Obama “is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their school?”

“The NRA’s ad attacking President Obama and his children is truly despicable and shows just how extreme and out of touch NRA leadership really is,” Becky Bond, CREDO’s political director, said in a statement. “The NRA A-rated senators who have stood by the NRA and its extreme agenda in the past, must denounce the NRA and its shameful ad.”
