Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus denied the reports that stated Donald Trump was questioning whether he should choose Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate as late as the night before he announced the pick on Twitter.
“I know what he was thinking,” Priebus said, on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “There was no time in between that was he skeptical of the Pence pick.”
Trump delayed announcing his running mate after the attack in Nice, France.
Priebus said that Trump also went on Fox News and said he had not made a final decision after he had already chosen Pence because he was annoyed at media outlets who had already reported as such.
“He wanted to keep people guessing. He wanted to make it more suspenseful,” Priebus said. “I think it frustrated Donald Trump that media outlets had reported it.”
