Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus admits that he received a phone call from Donald Trump within minutes after House Speaker Paul Ryan went on CNN and said that he was not ready to support Trump.

During a Politico Playbook breakfast Friday, moderator Mike Allen declared “Trump called you within minutes.”

“Ah you’re pretty good,” Priebus said. “I can’t lie.”

Priebus said that Trump immediately wanted to know what he needed to do to get Ryan on his side.

“[He] wasn’t like furious or anything. It was just ‘what do I need to do?'” Priebus said. “My view is just relax and be gracious, and I’ll talk to Paul, and we’ll try to work on this.”

Priebus said that he sympathized with Ryan.

“I know Paul really well, and I know he’s being honest,” Priebus says. “So I am comfortable that it is going to take some time in some cases for people to work through differences so we talked about it, and we talked about it multiple times and they are very comfortable with sitting down with Donald Trump and it may be at my office. It may be somewhere else but we are going to have that meeting and start the process of unifying.”
