Rep. Mike Michaud (D-ME) leads Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) in the Maine governor’s race according to a new Public Policy Polling survey released Tuesday.

The PPP poll found Michaud leading LePage 38 percent to 36 percent while Independent candidate Eliot Cutler has 15 percent of those surveyed. Meanwhile 10 percent said they were undecided.

In a head-to-head matchup Michaud leads LePage 53 percent to 39 percent.

The poll’s findings come after Michaud made headlines for coming out as gay. The poll found that three-quarters of those surveyed view Michaud the same as they did before he came out.

The poll was conducted Nov. 8 through 11 and surveyed 964 voters.
