Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA) continues to look like the favorite in the U.S. Senate special election playing out in Massachusetts, with another poll released Thursday showing him with a solid lead in the race.

The latest survey from Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling, conducted on behalf of League of Conservation Voters, found Markey claiming the support of 47 percent of likely Bay State voters. His Republican opponent, businessman Gabriel Gomez, trailed with the support of 39 percent. League of Conservation Voters has endorsed Markey in the special election, which is scheduled for June 25.

The findings amount to a marginal bump for Markey since PPP’s previous survey of the race, which found the Democratic congressman claiming a 7-point edge over Gomez. A New England College poll released earlier this week showed Markey with a 12-point lead.

PPP’s latest was conducted Monday and Tuesday, before the two squared off for the first of three debates.

The mounting survey data showing Markey with comfortable leads in the race runs counter to recent claims that the contest is a toss-up. Markey currently holds a roughly 9-point lead, according to the PollTracker Average.
