Half of the country approves of the House-passed budget deal but Republicans aren’t sure what to make of it, according to a poll released Tuesday.

The latest ABC News/Washington Post survey found 50 percent of all respondents approve of the bipartisan deal, while 35 percent disapprove. Democrats were even more enthusiastic, with 61 percent saying they approve the deal.

But the reception among Republicans was lukewarm, the poll showed. Thirty-nine percent of Republicans said they approve of the deal, while 36 percent said they disapprove.

The budget legislation, which will set spending levels for the next two years, easily passed the House last week and appears poised to clear the Senate on Tuesday.
