As President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden prepare to lay out a plan to curb gun violence, a majority of Americans favor stricter gun laws, a new poll released Wednesday from CNN/Time Magazine/ORC International finds.
According to the poll, 55% favor stricter gun control laws, with 37% saying that they strongly support such laws. Forty-four percent oppose such measures, including 27% who say they strongly oppose stricter gun control laws.
Obama’s approval ratings has also ticked up since a CNN poll in December, with 55 percent approving of his job performance and 43 percent disapproving.
Conducted Jan. 14-15, the poll surveyed 814 adults and has a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percentage points.
