If Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is convicted in a federal court, Americans overwhelmingly want the 19-year-old suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings to be sentenced to death, according to a new poll released Wednesday.

The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll showed that 70 percent of Americans — including large majorities of Democrats and Republicans — are in favor of the death penalty for Tsarnaev. A little more than a quarter said they are opposed to the death penalty for the younger of the two alleged bombers. Tsarnaev’s older brother, Tamerlan, was killed amid a firefight with police earlier this month.
