Poll: Kaine Up By 2 Points In Virginia Senate Race

Democratic former Gov. Tim Kaine has a very slight edge over Republican former Sen. George Allen in the Virginia Senate race, according to a new poll from Quinnipiac.

Kaine has 48 percent support, compared with Allen at 46 percent. The survey of 1,412 likely voters was conducted from July 31 through Aug. 6, and has a 2.6 percent margin of error.

In the previous Quinnipiac poll from two months ago, Kaine led 44 percent to percent.

The PollTracker Average has been similarly neck and neck, currently showing Kaine at 47.5 percent and Allen with 46.5 percent.
