Poll: Mitt Romney And Jeb Bush Less Popular Than Last Year

A new poll shows that Americans have a worse view of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R), than they did in 2014. Both men have signaled plans to run for president in in 2016.

The new NBC poll released Monday showed that 27 percent of Americans have a positive view of Romney now, down from 32 percent in September of last year. Forty percent, by contrast, have a negative view of the 2012 Republican nominee for president, a slight increase from last year when 39 percent said they had a negative view of him.

It’s not as bad for Bush. Nineteen percent of Americans said they have a positive view of Bush, down from 26 percent in November of 2014. His negatives have only slightly changed, the poll found. Thirty-two percent said they view Bush negatively, down slightly from November when 33 percent said they had a negative view of Bush, the poll found.

Among Republicans, 52 percent said they have a positive view of Romney while just 15 percent said the had a negative view. But in September of last year, 60 percent of Republicans said they had a positive view of him while 13 percent said they had a negative view.

With Bush, 37 percent of Republicans said they have a positive view of him while 16 percent said they have a negative view. In November, 44 percent said the they have a positive view of the former Florida governor while 12 percent said they have a negative view.
