The Arizona Senate race is now tied, according to a new survey from Democratic-aligned Public Policy Polling — suggesting that the likely Republican nominee, Rep. Jeff Flake, has sustained damage from his primary challenge by businessman Wil Cardon.

The poll shows Flake tied with the presumptive Democratic nominee, former Bush-era Surgeon General Richard Carmona, at 38 percent each, and 25 percent of voters undecided. The survey of 833 registered voters was conducted from July 23-25, and has a 3.4 percent margin of error. The poll was commissioned by the League of Conservation Voters, which has endorsed Carmona.

The same poll also shows Mitt Romney with 52 percent in the presidential race in this Republican-leaning state, compared to 41 percent for President Obama. However, Flake’s favorable rating is only 30 percent, compared to 37 percent unfavorable. Carmona is still largely unknown with a 16 percent favorable rating, and 20 percent unfavorable.

The PollTracker Average now shows Flake ahead with 41 percent, compared to 35.7 percent for Carmona.
