New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s (R) re-election prospects continue to look as bright as ever, according to the latest poll from Quinnipiac University released Tuesday.

The poll showed Christie trouncing his likely Democratic challenger, state Sen. Barbara Buono, in a hypothetical matchup of the 2013 gubernatorial race, 60 percent to 25 percent. And like so many other polls in recent months, Quinnipiac found Christie with an eye-popping approval rating. Seventy percent of Garden State voters approve of the job Christie is doing while 23 percent disapprove.

New Jersey voters also have appear to have no qualms with the physical characteristic for which Christie is best known. According to the poll, 64 percent of in-state voters are comfortable with an overweight candidate while 17 percent said they have some reservations and just four percent are uncomfortable. Another four percent of voters said they are enthusiastic about an overweight candidate.

The PollTracker Average illustrates the commanding position Christie currently enjoys over Buono.
