Actress Ashley Judd, who is considering a challenge to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in 2014, trails the unpopular incumbent by just 4 points in a hypothetical match-up, according to a Public Policy Polling survey released Tuesday. McConnell gets 47 percent to Judd’s 43 percent.

The poll shows McConnell is the most unpopular senator in the country, with just 37 percent of Kentucky voters approving of his performance and 55 percent disapproving. Even among Republicans, his approval is just 59 percent.

On the other side of the aisle, Judd is the favorite among Democratic primary voters, with 29 percent saying she is their No. 1 pick.

PPP surveyed 1,266 Kentucky voters from Dec. 7 – 9 with a margin of error of +/- 2.8 percentage points. The smaller survey of 585 Democratic primary voters has a margin of error of +/- 4.1 percent.
