Police in Atlanta said Thursday that Chris Kelly, one half of the rap duo Kris Kross, may have died of a drug overdose.
Kelly was discovered unresponsive Wednesday night in his Atlanta home and was later pronounced dead. Fulton County police Cpl. Kay Lester said that although a cause has yet to be determined there are early signs that drugs were involved. “It appears it may have been a possible drug overdose,” Lester said, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
With their trademark backwards pants look, Kris Kross enjoyed considerable fame in the 1990s. The duo’s track “Jump” was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for eight weeks in 1992.
