Kansas City police have closed streets downtown in response to a bomb threat, reports the Kansas City Star:

Kansas City police were preparing to search a man’s car this afternoon after he walked into a state office building about noon today, said he was terrorist and claimed to have a bomb.

Authorities detained the man and sent a bomb-sniffing dog to check the man’s car in the parking lot of the Fletcher Daniels building at 615 E. 13th Street. The dog gave its handler a positive indication on the car so police are handling the incident as a credible threat.
