The pilot in charge of the Asiana Airlines jet that crashed during its landing in San Francisco on Saturday had logged just 43 hours of flying time on the Boeing 777, according to media reports.

But Lee Gang-guk racked up nearly 10,000 hours on other jets, ABC News reported, and according to CNN, he had flown to San Francisco previously.

The Wall Street Journal reported that it Lee Gang-guk may have accumulated many of his 43 hours in a 777 simulator, assuming that Asiana follows global industry standards.
