Eight members of the same family were killed “execution-style” across four homes in rural Piketon, Ohio, law enforcement said Friday, in the presence of three small children, who survived the rampage.

The deceased are seven adults and a 16-year-old male, Ohio attorney general Mike DeWine said in a Friday afternoon press conference.

All the victims were shot in the head, “execution-style,” and none of the deaths appear to be suicides, he said. DeWine said it appears the killings took place overnight while the victims were in bed, with one woman killed with her “four-day-old right there.”

A six-month-old and three-year-old child were also found to have survived the mass shooting.

The killer is believed to be at large and should be considered armed and dangerous, DeWine said. The motive behind the attacks is not yet known.

  1. I’m starting to hate that “TPM Breaking News” image. Always a massive tragedy.

  2. Rural and impoverished, this beautiful, rolling SE corner of OH has everything from farmers to bikers to witches, anything’s possible.

  3. Meh. More people dying from gun violence. Not that I don’t care, I do, but I just assume every morning somewhere a family or family member is being killed because there’s an easy to access gun around. It’s neither news nor breaking but I guess there’s a purpose to reminding us…maybe every article should be accompanied by a list of NRA/Congress members and their contact info.

  4. The Good Guy with a Gun was on the scene but he didn’t do anything cause the other guys were LIBERALS.

  5. I should just save the following as a macro:

Why weren’t they wearing body armor?
Where was the good family member with a gun?
If they’d all been armed, this could have been avoided.
    Is the gun OK?
Now is not the time to talk about gun laws, gun control or gun safety.
It’s too soon to politicize this tragedy.
It’s a false flag by Obama designed to gin up support for his gun confiscation program.

I’m sure I left a few others out. Regardless, nothing will be done. Nothing ever is.
