White House adviser Dan Pfeiffer demurred Sunday when asked by “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace if President Obama would sign an immigration reform bill with a “trigger” but added that the administration feels “very good” about the Senate effort. The Gang of Eight in the Senate is expected to propose a bill with a trigger, meaning that a border security benchmark must be met before unauthorized immigrants could begin the path to citizenship.

“What they are looking at and what has been talked about in the Gang of Eight proposal is 100 percent consistent with what the president is doing,” Pfeiffer said when pressed on the trigger question. “So we feel very good about it and they are looking at it in the right way.”
