Mike Pence on Monday morning applauded Donald Trump’s comment during the Sunday night debate that if he is elected president, he will have a special prosecutor investigate Hillary Clinton and that she will “be in jail.”
“I don’t know why — what the FBI was considering doing six months ago sounds like that to you or to any of your viewers,” Pence said on MSNBC when asked about Trump’s remark, adding that the FBI considered investigating the Clinton Foundation.
“I thought that was one of the better moments of the debate last night,” the Republican vice presidential nominee continued.
He then sought to clarify Trump’s comments.
“What Donald Trump said is no one is going to be above the law,” Pence said. “There’s going to be no double standards and he said we’re going to look into and get to the bottom of this, which I think is what the American people would fully expect, is an even application of the law and I fully support him.”
