House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) praised President Barack Obama’s toughness on Syria in an interview published Thursday.

“I can’t say that it isn’t something that I didn’t know before, but I certainly do think that it’s a sign of strength… I would say he’s a tough hombre,” Pelosi told Time.

But Pelosi indicated that, while she supports Obama’s call for military action against the Assad regime in Syria, she’s not taking a leading role on the issue.

“I’m not exactly leading the charge,” she said. “But I’m supporting the president.”

Pelosi expressed support last week for “measured, targeted and limited” military action in Syria. In a letter on Tuesday, she urged her Democratic colleagues to pass the resolution authorizing the use of force.
