After the FBI on Monday released partial transcripts of the Orlando gunman’s communications during the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) called releasing the edited transcripts “preposterous.”
In a statement, Ryan called for President Obama to order the release of the full transcripts of Omar Mateen’s call with a 911 dispatcher and conversations with a crisis negotiator, in which he called himself an Islamic soldier.
“Selectively editing this transcript is preposterous. We know the shooter was a radical Islamist extremist inspired by ISIS,” Ryan said in the statement. “We also know he intentionally targeted the LGBT community. The administration should release the full, unredacted transcript so the public is clear-eyed about who did this, and why.”
