A former West, Texas paramedic on Wednesday was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for conspiracy to make a pipe bomb and attempted obstruction of justice.

Bryce Reed, 31, was one of the first people on the scene of April’s deadly fertilizer plant fire and explosion in West, which left 15 people dead and around 200 others injured. A few weeks later, Reed was arrested and charged with possession of a destructive device, but Texas officials in August said they had found no evidence linking Reed to the explosion.

Reed pleaded guilty to the charges against him in October. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas, his prison sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release, and Reed was also ordered to pay a $2,000 fine.
