U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, according to The New York Times, has urged patience in allowing a new round of sanctions to take effect in Iran. Speaking in Tunisia, Panetta told reporters that the “sanctions are having a serious impact in terms of the economy of Iran” but that “the results may not seem obvious at the moment.”

President Mahmud Ahjmadinejad yesterday called the sanctions “ridiculous,” reports RFE/RL.
