A judge could rule as soon as Thursday on whether he’ll block Pennsylvania’s voter ID bill from going into effect this election. Commonwealth Court Judge Robert Simpson asked lawyers to lay out what an injunction of the law might look like earlier this week. Simpson will hear from lawyers for the state and civil rights organizations challenging the law during a second day of hearings on Thursday.

The state’s Supreme Court ruled earlier this month that Simpson should enjoin the law unless the state could prove that no voters would be disenfranchised and that the state was providing “liberal access” to photo identification, as the law required.
