Police said an 8-year-old boy was accidentally shot in the stomach Saturday, Portland TV station KGW reported.
Police learned that the boy was shot inside a home in Gresham, Ore. around 2:19 p.m., according to KGW. The boy was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery, Gresham police’s Ben Costigan told the news station.
Authorities did not release other details about the circumstances of the shooting, according to KGW, although detectives investigating the shooting said it appeared accidental.
