Oprah Winfrey is in the presidential game. Maybe.
During an interview with Bloomberg’s David Rubenstein published Wednesday morning, the talk show host and media mogul implied that Donald Trump’s unlikely election had dispelled her notion that she wasn’t qualified for the job.
“I never actually never thought that that was – I never considered the question even a possibility,” she said when Rubenstein asked her if she had mulled running for president. “I just thought, ‘Oh – oh!’”
“Because it’s clear that you don’t need government experience to be elected president of the United States, right?” he said.
“That’s what I said!” Winfrey replied. “I thought ‘Oh gee I don’t have the experience, I don’t know enough,’ and now I’m thinking, ‘Oh – oh!’”

Haven’t we been punished enough by Trump’s candidacy and election?
Do we all get a new car?
I’m sure she’s a nice person, but I’ve never watched one second of any Oprah show and I don’t give a shit about her, or any other TV celebrity. Or sports figure. Or musician. Or actor.
The last thing we need is another celebrity with zero experience in government trying to be President. It’s symptomatic of the juvenile attitudes our national culture has about government.
Sure, I’d rather have her in the Oval Office than Trump, but that’s like saying I’d rather drink a quart of vinegar than a cup of sulfuric acid.
If Oprah really wants to make a difference, she should plow a portion of her vast financial holdings into voter registration and the fight against voter suppression.
I’m weirdly open minded on this.
