Houston Mayor Annise Parker, who is openly gay and who has criticized President Obama in the past for not offering clear enough support for same-sex marriage, tweeted her surprise at the news that Obama had changed his mind.

Parker recently told Sirius XM radio that Obama “needs to evolve a little bit faster and is not clearly where I think he ought to be.” A staffer for Parker clarified to TPM that the call she received was from a White House staff member, not the president.
