A Broken Arrow, Okla. 2-year-old died after he accidentally shot himself with a handgun on Tuesday night, police told KJRH News.

Police responded to the “accidental discharge” and found the toddler with a gunshot wound in his torso, according to KJRH.

The boy was taken to a hospital, but he did not survive the injuries, Broken Arrow Cpl. Leon Calhoun told KJRH.

Calhoun called the incident a “tragic accident,” and police are still investigating.
