Sitting down with First Lady Michelle Obama for a taping of ABC’s The View on Monday, President Obama affirmed his belief that change to Washington must not come just from the inside, but outside as well.
“You are Washington, you’re about as inside as it gets,” prodded Elisabeth Hasselbeck , per a White House pool report.
“The idea was you can’t change Washington just from the inside; you’ve got to mobilize the American people,” Obama explained. “When ordinary people are engaged and paying attention, that’s when Congress responds. We can’t play just an inside game.”
