Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) chastised President Obama on Tuesday for calling Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) by her first name while criticizing her views on the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.

But as it turns out, Obama has called both Brown and Warren by their first names numerous times before.

Buzzfeed News pointed out three speeches in which Obama called Brown “Sherrod” — in 2009, 2012 and 2013 — while he was praising the senator.

Buzzfeed’s Evan McMorris-Santoro also provided examples in which Obama referred to Warren by her first name, both before and after she was elected to the Senate.

And even Brown has called Warren by her first name.

During an interview published on Saturday, Obama said Warren’s criticism of the trade deal were “absolutely wrong.” And when asked if the feud over trade between the two Democrats was “personal,” Obama said, “Elizabeth is, you know, a politician like everybody else.”

On Tuesday, Brown said Obama’s statement was “disrespectful” and said that the President would not have used Warren’s first name if she were “a male senator.”

    Really? Streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetching real hard .

  2. Yea, if he was a Republican he’d already have had surrogates or billionaire-funded commercials call them the Squaw and the Hippie.

Does it make sense to be a member of Congress and accuse others of disrespect?

  4. Pfft…W. didn’t even bother with surrogates. He gave EVERYONE a stupid and usually offensive nickname, and freely used them publicly and privately. Remember Turdblossom? I wish we all could forget that one…both the name and the person.

  5. At least we’ll always have his legacy of inept portraiture…
