President Barack Obama will meet with a bipartisan group of lawmakers Thursday to discuss programs under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), according to his schedule. The meeting is slated to take place at 2:15 p.m. ET in the Oval Office.
During his meeting with Senate Democrats on Wednesday, Obama discussed the FISA court, which has drawn scrutiny for serving as a “rubber stamp” for government surveillance programs.
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), who suggested on Sunday that civil liberties advocates should have a say in the court proceedings, called it a “good discussion” with Obama.
