President Barack Obama on Monday will present U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Ty M. Carter with the Medal of Honor for “conspicuous gallantry,” the White House said.
The ceremony will be held at 2:10 p.m. ET in the White House East Room.
According to the White House, Carter will receive the award for his “courageous actions while serving as a cavalry scout” in 2009 in Afghanistan. Carter will be the fifth living recipient of the Medal of Honor, the highest American military honor, for actions while serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.
