President Barack Obama conducted separate phone calls Tuesday with both British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Francois Hollande regarding the situation in Syria.

According to a White House readout of the phone calls, the three leaders all “agreed to work closely together, and in consultation with Russia and China, to explore seriously the viability of the Russian proposal to put all Syrian chemical weapons and related materials fully under international control in order to ensure their verifiable and enforceable destruction.”

Syria said Tuesday morning that it is receptive to the proposal.
