President Barack Obama on Monday called Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell to congratulate his team’s victory in this year’s World Series.

In video footage of the call released by the White House, Obama told Farrell that the Red Sox are one of the most popular teams in the White House.

“I suspect that if a poll was taken in the White House, Red Sox fans would predominate,” he told Farrell.

Obama also made note of the performance by Red Sox star and World Series MVP David Ortiz.

The Red Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in six games last week to secure the franchise’s eighth World Series title overall, and third since 2004.
