The New York Daily News skewered politicians’ “thoughts and prayers” reaction to America’s latest mass shooting, this time with 14 dead in San Bernardino, Calif., with its cover on Thursday.

The headline read “GOD ISN’T FIXING THIS.” The story’s first line, “Prayers aren’t working.”

Here’s the cover:

The Daily News has always taken a firm anti-gun violence stance. After two Virginia journalists were killed on-air, the tabloid’s cover read “AMERICA’S FULL OF IT” with an editorial calling out the country’s gun obsession.

After the rampage in Santa Barbara in 2014, the paper’s cover read: “AMERICA IN DENIAL.”

Flagging Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul (KY) criticized the cover.

  1. Massive amounts of respect for this publication from me. The only one with some cojones on this issue.

  2. This will piss off both gun nuts and religious nuts (particularly the cretins who are both).

Good. If there actually were a god, I think She would be pleased.

  3. What their responses really mean: Our thoughts and our prayers go out to the NRA who is going to come under attack because of this incident.

  4. Here we go again next week? tomorrow ? Who Knows

David Wheeler, one of the parents of the 20 first graders slain in the Newtown, Connecticut Sandy Hook Massacre, tells CBS News’ “60 Minutes” that it’s always somebody’s else’s child that gets killed by a gun — until it’s yours.

“I would like every parent in this country — that’s 150 million people,” Wheeler told CBS’s Scott Pelley. “I would like them to look in the mirror and that’s not a figure of speech, Scott. I mean find a mirror in your house and look in it and look in your eyes and say ‘this will never happen to me, this will never happen in my school, this will never happen in my community,’ and see if you actually believe that. And if there’s a shadow, the slightest shadow of doubt in what you’ve said? Think about what you can do to change that,” Wheeler said. “It is going to happen again. It’s going to happen again. Every time, it’s somebody else’s school, it’s somebody else’s community, it’s somebody else’s town. Until one day, you wake up and it’s not.”

  5. Primarily the “thoughts and prayers” of the Republican NRA-whores and corporate tools were in hopes that no innocent guns were harmed in the savagery that took place. Their primary thought: “How can I appear to show compassion or seem to give a sht about the victims of this rampage without insulting the NRA or upsetting my Dumfukistan “base” of low/no info Bagger & Con GOP gun humpers? Hmmmm…”
