The Republican spokesman who called Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes (D) an “empty dress” who “babbles incoherently” appeared unapologetic on Wednesday, arguing that Democrats who expressed outrage at the remark were reinforcing a “long term narrative” about the woman who’s trying to unseat Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).
Brad Dayspring, communications director for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, used his Twitter account to contend that Democrats were wasting their time on the matter:
Democrats in DC spent the day repeating/reinforcing a long term narrative about Alison Lundergan Grimes’ lack of preparedness for the Senate

@cattleprod Think that says more about “them” than anything else. Better ways to spend 24/7,

@ag_conservative The left is inadvertently (and effectively) driving far bigger questions & narratives about their candidate by obsessing

Dayspring made the comment about Grimes in an email published Wednesday by The Hill. Democrats attempted to tie McConnell to the remark, but the GOP leader has yet to address the controversy.
