The National Rife Association endorsed Rep. Todd Akin’s (R) bid for Senate in Missouri Monday. Akin’s voting history in Congress has earned him an “A” grade from the group, while Sen. Claire McCaskill (D) has an “F.”
“The choice is clear in this election,” Chris Cox, the NRA’s chief lobbyist, said in a statement. “Todd Akin will support our Second Amendment freedoms and hunting heritage. Claire McCaskill will not.”
The NRA is the latest national group to throw its weight behind Akin, who polls show is struggling in his race against McCaskill. Akin welcomed the NRA’s backing.
In a statement, he said the endorsment “shows that my record is in step with most Missourians.”
