The Santorum campaign unveiled a new ad Monday attacking Mitt Romney for being the same as President Obama. The ad features a woman listing all the things conservatives don’t like about President Obama:
“What if I told you this man’s big government-mandated health care included $50 abortions and killed thousands of jobs?” the woman says while a picture of Obama displays behind her. “Would you ever vote for him?”
What about “radical” cap and trade, the Wall Street bailouts and the fact that he raised taxes, she continues. Finally, she asks, “What if I told you the man I’m talking about isn’t him,” she says, nodding at Obama’s photo as it morphs into Romney’s face. “It’s him.”
Watch:
Update: The Romney campaign has responded to the ad, claiming the Santorum camp has distorted Romney’s record in the ad. The Romney campaign is painting the ad as a desperate attack. From Romney spokesperson Andrea Saul:
Rick Santorum is attacking pollsters, attacking reporters and attacking Mitt Romney. It is sad to see him completely lose his bearings and revert to patently false claims. Senator Santorum is at a point of desperation that he will say or do anything. It is pretty clear that he is lashing out at everyone around him in order to prop up his sinking campaign.
