Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday said that he strongly opposes the current nuclear deal the U.S. is negotiating with Iran and urged leaders to push for a different deal.
“The alternative to this bad deal is a much better deal,” he said in his speech to Congress.
He laid out a few specifics on limiting Iran’s nuclear capabilities and said that a better deal would stay in place “until Iran’s aggression ends.”
Netanyahu added that Israel needs a deal “with which we could live, literally.”
The Prime Minister urged leaders to push for a different deal, channeling poet Robert Frost to say that the “difficult path is usually the one less traveled.”
He then concluded his speech by acknowledging that the U.S. always stands with Israel to applause from the crowd in Congress.
I missed this part of the speech; 25 minutes in I had to run to the bathroom sink. I rinsed breakfast down the drain . . .
Stopping by a hitsiger on a snowy afternoon…
The actual deal that will be ultimately agreed is unknown at this time, but it seems he wants the President to make the best deal he can, which means they are in agreement.
Since when is catering to Israel’s desires the “road less traveled” for the United States?
Keeping in mind that this is a Congress that can’t get out of its own way, what exactly would Netanyahu have them do, especially since the Iran deal will be done or fall apart by March 24? Since the US is not alone here, has he delivered this talk in London, Paris, Berlin, Moscow and Beijing and, if so, what do they think about it?
