Reporting from Cairo, NBC’s chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel suggested Tuesday that another revolution could be afoot in Egypt.
With massive protests in Tahrir Square building, Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi — elected just last year — looks increasingly vulnerable. His own military has demanded that he step down and his government appears to be crumbling. Two spokesmen for the president quit Tuesday, the same day that Morsi rejected the military’s ultimatum.
“It feels like a new revolution could be under way here,” Engel said on NBC’s “Today” show, reminding viewers of the same demonstrations two-and-a-half years ago that ultimately led to former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s ouster.
