President Obama has a small 2-point lead on Republican candidate Mitt Romney, 48 percent to Romney’s 46 percent, in a new poll of North Carolina from Marist College and commissioned by NBC News.
“This was the closest of the battleground states four years ago, and it is close again this time,” said Dr. Lee M. Miringoff, Director of The Marist College Institute for Public Opinion, in a statement. “Obama and Romney are fighting to a draw over who is better able to handle the economy.” Forty-seven percent of likely state voters say Romney would be better to handle the economy, while 46 percent say that about Obama.
The PollTracker Average of North Carolina shows it to be a true toss-up, as the president holds a 0.4 percent lead.
