CNN’s Brian Stelter reported that NBC could officially name Chuck Todd as the new host of “Meet the Press” as early as Thursday afternoon. But confirmation of the change may have gone largely unnoticed.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid was interviewing the Huffington Post’s Ryan Reilly shortly before 2:30 p.m. ET when news of the change at “Meet the Press” came crawling across the cable news channel’s ticker.

Stelter reported earlier in the day that Todd will replace embattled “Meet the Press” moderator David Gregory on the struggling Sunday morning talk show. The official announcement from NBC, according to Stelter, “will be announced no later than Friday.”
