Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi has been officially sworn in as the country’s newest president, according to the AP. Morsi took his oath of office in Tahrir Square, the scene of much of the 2011 protesting, in defiance of the military’s wishes.

Morsi, an Islamist, alluded to his recent comments that the military will no longer hold the sway it once, saying, “I fear no one but God.”
