Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) last week joked to radio host Dale Jackson that he should have arrested Ana Zamora, the young undocumented immigrant that Michelle Obama invited to the State of the Union as her guest.

Zamora is a beneficiary of President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy, which many conservatives vehemently oppose.

On his show last week, Jackson said Obama’s invitation to Zamora was “just an absolute slap in the face to everyone who’s ever lost a job by an illegal alien, everyone who’s ever lost a loved one to an illegal alien that shouldn’t even be here,” according to audio published by ThinkProgress.

Brooks, a guest on Jackson’s show, joked that the radio host should have arrested Zamora on the spot.

“I was a little bit disappointed in you in that regard. Because you were sitting pretty close to the First Lady’s box. You could’ve walked right over and had a citizen’s arrest and taken care of that problem, right?” Brooks said, laughing.

The Alabama congressman strongly opposes immigration reform. In 2011, he told his constituents that he will do anything short of shooting” undocumented immigrants when fighting immigration reform.
