Lawmakers in Minnesota are expected to vote this week on a bill that would legalize same-sex marriage in the state, Northland’s News Center reported.
According to NNC, the state House is expected to vote on the legislation on Thursday, while state Senators are expected to vote on Saturday. Democrats control the state legislature, and the state’s Democratic governor, Mark Dayton, has pledged to sign the bill.
State House Speaker Paul Thissen (D) said that he’s confident that Democrats have the votes necessary to pass the measure.
In November, Minnesota voters rejected a proposed constitutional amendment that would have outlawed same-sex marriage.
