Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is sounding more like a potential candidate in the upcoming recall against Republican Gov. Scott Walker, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

In a fundraising letter for Barrett’s mayoral re-election campaign, in which he is virtually certain to win on April 3, Barrett takes aim higher up at Walker, against whom Barrett was previously the Democratic nominee in 2010: “Scott Walker would rather fight to gain political points and preserve his own power than fight for you. I will never do that.”

The recall is expected to be officially triggered at a special meeting of state election officials on March 30. After that, the filing deadline for candidates will be on April 10, with candidates required to collect at least 2,000 petition signatures in order to be placed on the ballot.
