A Monday Facebook post from a Virginia congressional candidate intended to suggest a smoking gun behind a prank call ended up revealing much more.

On his campaign social media page, Mike Webb posted that an Arlington County Republican Committee officer might’ve been behind a prank call offering him a job. But the post, which included a screenshot of a Yahoo search, also included two browser tabs for porn sites.

As ARLnow.com points out, Google searches for “LAYLA RIVER TIGHT BODY” and “IVONE SEXY AMATEUR” direct users to various porn sites.

Webb later told the newspaper he was testing the sites for viruses. He earlier claimed that a “cyber attack” caused him to miss a Federal Election Commission filing deadline.

“Curious by nature, I wanted to test the suggestion that somehow, lurking out in the pornographic world there is some evil operator waiting for the one in a gazillion chance that a candidate for federal office would go to that particular website and thereby be infected with a virus that would cause his or her FEC data file to crash,” Webb said.

Although he was soundly defeated in the Republican nominating contest, Webb has said he intends to mount a third party challenge.

In a Monday night Facebook post, he owned up to the screenshot snafu.

“THANKS FOR THE TAB CHECK, RANGER BUDDIES!” he wrote, along with a Bible verse and lengthy post suggesting the attention helped his campaign.
