Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) said in a radio interview Friday that the Republican establishment was fortunate to only be “spanked” by voters and not “executed” by them.

Huckabee argued on the Sean Hannity Show that Republicans allowed President Obama’s administration to secure the Iran nuclear deal and fund Planned Parenthood and “Obamacare.”

“And they’re getting what they justly deserve, they’re getting spanked,” Huckabee said, as first flagged by BuzzFeed News. “And they need to be happy they’re only getting spanked and not executed because there is seething rage out in country for those who have fought to help some of these guys get elected.”

Huckabee continued and said that Republicans “surrendered to Obama and people are sick of it.” He suggested that presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump would disrupt Washington and that his campaign gives him “great comfort.”

“I tell people, ‘I don’t have any hesitation going out there and genuinely supporting Donald Trump,’” Huckabee said.

Huckabee endorsed Trump in May after failing his own bid for the White House.
