CHARLOTTE — Addressing a room full of fired-up delegates and Democrats at the African American caucus meeting her Wednesday morning, Michelle Obama cast the upcoming election as a stark choice.

“This election more than any other in history is about how we want our democracy to function for decades to come,” she said. “Do we want our elections to be about who buys the most ads on TV? Do we want our kids and our grandkids to walk away from this election feeling like ordinary, hardworking voices can no longer be heard in this country?”

Obama alluded to the voter ID law fight when she said the race is about making sure “we all have a voice in the voting booth.”
