Merkley: If Dems Don’t Go Nuclear, Republicans Will When They’re The Majority

Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR), a strong supporter of scaling back the filibuster, argued Thursday that if Democrats don’t change the rules of the Senate now, Republicans will when they retake the majority.

He posted that tweet while Senate leaders Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell were sparring on the floor about Reid’s threat to change the rules with a bare majority if gridlock doesn’t ease up.
